Trying to stay away from fruits and vegetables that have been sprayed with pesticides, (not only one time but numerous times) I opt to buy organic. The pests don’t want to eat it, why should we? 😳 But sometimes the fruit or vegetable is not available in organic. What to do?
If the greens 🍇🥦🥗have been sprayed with pesticides, one can definitely reduce the amount of pesticide residues by soaking them for 15 minutes in either vinegar or baking soda water. Although, you are only removing the surface pesticide residues. Pesticides can penetrate into the skin and into the produce itself, unfortunately no amount of soaking will remove it. A number of studies show vinegar and baking soda are very effective. Soaking in vinegar has been shown to reduce surface pesticides by up to 65-80% while soaking the produce in baking soda/water up to 96%.
We have 1% baking soda in Our Undercover agent deodorant but I would not recommend it for removing pesticides from your apple 😉
