Turmeric as a teeth whitener

Turmeric is such a versatile spice, used in Indian cooking, coloring fabric, a very strong anti-inflammatory antioxidant etc. Did you know that it also whitens teeth? Take a separate toothbrush from your normal one (because it will be yellow) Wet the toothbrush and dip it in organic turmeric powder. The brush your front teeth, rinse. Already after the first time brushing with turmeric you can see a difference. Much better than the harsh chemical teeth whiteners in my opinion. You need to clean your sink afterwards 😉 it will be yellow

Turmeric is also an ingredient in our “Make my day” facial cream coming soon!

A little reminder

As several people who I am close to have discovered malignant skin lesions. Here’s a little reminder to check your skin for suspicious changes and get a screening. Skin cancer is the fastest growing cancer type today and it can spread rapidly. New screening methods are being developed like a “bandaid” that you press on the suspected spot for sometime and then get it analyzed at the pharmacy. Another is being developed by Swedish university @kthuniversity , a device that can analyze the lesion in seconds.

Always use sunscreen with planet friendly ingredients when spending time in the sunshine. Small studies show that taking vitamin C and E supplements may significantly increase the skin’s ability to stand up to UV rays.

Benefits of deep breathing

Listened to a holistic health specialist yesterday. Had my breathing tested, it turns out that I like most people breathe too shallow. Some of the benefits of deep breathing are

*natural pain killer

*improves blood flow

*increases energy levels

*improves posture

*reduces inflammation

*detoxifies the body

*stimulates lymphatic system

*improves digestion

Apparently only people who regularly meditate and practice mindfulness pass this test.

The specialist recommended trying to sleep with a thin piece of surgical tape across the lips so you only breathe through your nose. She said it’s like doing yoga breathing through the night. Maybe something to try ?

Sourcing organic product ingredients

When creating our new products, for True organic of Sweden, the ingredients are very carefully considered. They have to be effective, clean, not too expensive and always planet friendly. When I discovered that rosewood is endangered, I immediately changed to ho-leaf essential oil in our Undercover agent deodorant. Unfortunately it puts a lot of pressure on the consumer to check ingredients before buying. I’m there myself, googling ingredients before buying something new. But, I think we have to. The profit driven organic certification organizations are no guarantee, they let through a lot of ingredients that are not planet friendly at all.

Veggie burgers

Did you hear that a new EU regulation has decided that veggie burgers now have to be called veggie discs?

Makes me think of disc jockey, floppy disk, diskmaskin (for Swedish people)

It’s a little bit funny, no? ..

Like someone ordering a bean burger would get confused and ask “Where is the meat?”

Hmm... is the meat industry behind this maybe?

Gentle rejuvenating treatments for sensitive skin

3 Gentle Rejuvenating Treatments for Sensitive Skin

If you have highly sensitive skin, you have likely avoided rejuvenating treatments like microdermabrasion and chemical peels in the past. You know your skin, and the most sensitive skin simply cannot handle some rejuvenating treatments. Red and flaky skin is not worth the risk.

But sensitive skin also deserves a little rejuvenating love and care every now and then!

Luckily, there are rejuvenating skin treatments out there designed specifically to cater to all skin types, even the most prone to reaction.

If you’re looking for a treatment to rejuvenate your skin without making it angry, you can try HydraFacial, a superficial peel, or an Oxygen Facial to rejuvenate while also soothing your skin.

HydraFacial
If you’re looking for a treatment that will hydrate and rejuvenate your skin simultaneously, HydraFacial is a great option.

Though HydraFacial is a medical grade facial treatment, it is very gentle on your face and is customizable depending on your specific skin needs. Your aesthetician will have the opportunity to perform a skin analysis to make sure the products used in your HydraFacial will be gentle enough for sensitive skin.

When you get a HydraFacial, you will experience a multi-step treatment, including cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, and replenishment. During the treatment, your provider will choose serums to replenish the vital nutrients your skin needs to look its very best.

Since the treatment is customizable, you can make sure you get an organic HydraFacial, by asking your provider to use completely organic serums during your treatment.

You will leave your HydraFacial with your skin feeling replenished and looking instantly healthier and more youthful. This is the perfect skin treatment for regular maintenance or to enjoy right before a major event where you want to make a great impression.

Superficial Peel
Another option for those with sensitive skin to experience skin rejuvenation and/or resurfacing is a superficial peel. Though many people think of skin and chemical peels as extremely irritating to the skin, superficial peels usually only leave mild redness behind without any peeling.

You can find superficial peels at medical spas or purchase them for at-home use.

If you do opt for the DIY route, make sure you do your research and find a peel with gentle ingredients. Some peels are completely organic and will not leave your skin with any redness while still offering resurfacing results.

You can add a superficial peel to facials you might get with most skincare providers, or you can choose to enjoy only a superficial peel. Either way, a superficial peel will keep your skin protected while also giving it a rejuvenated look and feel.

Oxygen Facial
The Oxygen Facial is another great option for those with sensitive skin who want major results. Since the Oxygen Facial combines the use of peels, active oxygen, and customizable serums to rejuvenate the skin, it is perfect for treating issues like acne, dullness, and signs of aging, while also catering to sensitive skin types.

Like HydraFacial, Oxygen Facial is almost completely customizable, so you can choose an Oxygen Facial with products designed specifically for individuals with sensitive skin.

Oxygen Facial is especially great for skin that gets congested easily. After an Oxygen Facial, you will leave feeling completely refreshed, and your skin will be glowing.

This is another facial perfect for maintenance or for making your skin look extra beautiful for a one-time event. And it’s great for sensitive skin, so you don’t have to worry about too much redness or irritation afterwards.

______

So if you have sensitive skin and always thought you had to stay away from skin rejuvenating treatments, think again. There are definitely options out there for you that will give you amazing results without irritating your skin.

Imagine skin rejuvenation that is actually gentle! No matter what treatment you try, make sure you choose a provider you trust that uses ingredients you believe in. And enjoy feeling rejuvenated!

Don’t forget to leave some of your lawn uncut for our pollinators.

Here’s a list of 10 nectar rich flowers that bees and butterflies love. For planting in pots or in your garden:

Bee (a) savior

A recent report from the Swedish environmental protection agency states that the situation is urgent for bees, butterflies and other pollinators. In Sweden as many as one third of our 270 distinct wild bee species are endangered. The problem of bee decline is not unique to Sweden, it is a huge global problem.
Pesticides, lack of food and a changed landscape threaten our little wild gardeners. It means serious consequences for our future. We are totally dependent on the crucial work of bees and other insects. About a third of the food we humans eat is pollinated by them.

What can you and I do to help? The problem seems overwhelming but there are quite a few small things we can do as individuals to help. If you have a lawn, leave some of it to become a flowery meadow and plant bee friendly flowers. Build a bee hotel, it’s not so complicated, watch and learn from a Youtube clip. Plant bee and butterfly friendly flowers on your balcony. All different butterflies have a special host flower of plant where they deposit their eggs and the caterpillars eventually feed. Caterpillars are particular which host plant they will feed off, so you can choose which butterflies you would like to hopefully visit.
Choose and support organic food, skincare, clothes etc.
Don’t use pesticides in your garden or harsh chemical cleaning and washing detergents in your home. For your families health and the health of our planet.

Chia seed oil fabulous for a beautiful complexion

Most of us know that chia seeds are great for our bodies when adding to food and smoothies for example. But did you know that oil extracted from chia seeds has incredible beauty benefits? Not only are they rich in precious omega-3 fatty acids, but they’re also intensely anti-inflammatory, calming and antioxidant-rich. What does that mean exactly? Chia seed oil is a great bet for restoring vital moisture, diminishing redness and inhibiting the appearance of wrinkles.
Those essential fatty acids also help to make the skin feel soothed and calmed, while giving it a supple and plumped up appearance. Another bonus to using chia seed oil on skin is its bounty of antioxidants, which help to protect the skin from signs of age, environmental, and UV induced damage. The oil is lightweight and non-greasy, so it won’t leave skin feeling oily. People with dry skin will love using chia seed oil for its amazing moisturizing properties. However, chia seed oil is actually great for all skin types—even oily, which can be surprising to many people. There is a common myth that applying oil to an oily skin will make it worse. This isn’t the case. Oily skin can really benefit from the nourishment that chia seed oil can give, ultimately helping it to control itself and to stop overproducing oil. Chia seed oil is rich in vitamin B3 and zinc, which means it balances oily skin and keeps the complexion clear Soft hydrated skin with a youthful look who doesn’t want that? This is why chia seed oil is the main ingredient in our award winning Face it serum. Top tip – make sure your skin is a bit moist before adding drops of oil on your face, this helps the oil penetrate the skin.

Great things happening 2019

Great things happening 2019. It’s not only gloom and doom. Even if we have a long way to go. Here are some small steps in the right direction.
Many countries and states are banning elephants and other animals from performing at the circus.
A ban on microbeads in personal care products such as shower gels, toothpaste, cleaning products, etc takes effect 2019. These microbeads are so small, they pass through the filters in the water treatment plants and end up in our waters where they absorb toxins and are eaten by marine life and eventually ending up on our plates. Microbeads are not biodegradable so they stay around forever.
There has been a nonsmoking policy in enclosed areas in the EU for several years and from 2019 in Sweden you can no longer smoke in outside cafés, train platforms and outside public buildings. Yay!
Next year 2020 EU is restricting the use of antibiotics in farm animals. Now all farm animals routinely get antibiotics even if they are not sick with the exception on organic farms . Next year only sick animals will get antibiotics. Doesn’t sound very appetizing to me. Livestock farming contributes 18% of human produced greenhouse gas emissions worldwide. This is more than all emissions from ships, planes, trucks, cars and all other transport put together.
We can all contribute by eating less or no meat at all.
Feel good result from a study made 2018 by fishing trawlers in the North Sea, previously they picked up 40% plastic bags, now it’s 16%
It shows that the little things you and me are doing makes a difference.
