Nourish dry winter hands

If winter weather leaves your hands cracked and dry, especially if you wash your hands often, there are a few things you can do to soothe dry hands.
Use a mild soap for hand washing. Preferably natural or organic, without the harsh ingredient sodium lauryl sulfate (SLS). An organic soap has milder sulfates that won’t dry your skin or harm the environment.
Apply hand cream after washing your hands. Use a natural organic one. The synthetic soaps are often based on mineral oils which come from petroleum. Not good for our skin or the planet. Body buddy lotion also works really well as a hand lotion.
Use an overnight hand mask. Apply an extra thick balm/ointment such as All you need is me balm on your hands which will nourish and work during the night when your skin is in repair mode. If you feel that it’s too sticky, use thin cotton gloves.
Save my dry winter skin

We need moisture for the skin barrier to perform well. Loss of moisture can result in skin flaking, show up as rough patches or redness and cracks. Dry skin may be itching, stinging and feel sensitive to the touch.
The All you need is me balm is perfect to use as an overnight mask. It locks in moisture while allowing skin to breathe. A family staple
Maintain eye health with goji berries

To maintain eye health, go for goji berries.
Just a handful of goji
berries have been found
to help improve the
density of the protective
pigments in your eyes.
At the University of
California people aged 45-65 participated in a trial that found that those eating
28g (a handful) of goji
berries five days a week
for 90 days had an
improvement in the
protective pigments that
filter out blue light and
act as a sunscreen for
the eyes. Another group
took specific eye health
supplements, but their
levels of this protective
pigment remained
the same by the end
of the study. So go ahead, go for some gojis 🌿

Protect your face from harsh weather

Walking may be the simplest and most underrated form of exercise.
There is a lot of information out there about the positives of running and lifting weights, but the simple activity of walking can provide a whole host of benefits too.
Walking is simple, free, and nearly any able-bodied person can do it.
As well as burning calories, studies show that brisk walks may help to reduce the intake of high calorie snacks by half. Walking increases bone strength, every step counts. People who walk at least 1,5km a day have a higher bone density than those who don’t.
Walking is just as effective as running for fighting major diseases.
Regular brisk walking may help to maintain a healthy weight, prevent various conditions including heart disease, high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, cancer, and stroke. Improves your cardiovascular fitness level, strengthens bones, muscles, and improves muscle endurance. May improve your mood, sleep, balance, and coordination. Builds up your immune system and reduces stress. Researchers found that walking for 30 minutes, 3 times a week for 3 months had the same mood boosting result as antidepressants.
As for myself, I have a dog who is a very fast walker, come rain or shine, I’m out there walking. I have noticed that my normal winter lows are not as bad since I got my dog Spencer. If it’s very cold or harsh weather I protect my face with All you need is me balm. Since it contains no water but let’s your skin breathe, it’s perfect for protecting the face. My best ideas and thinking also happen out there on the walks.
See you out there :)
Wellness tip

I think most of us know that positive thoughts are good for us. But if you are like me, sometimes life speeds up or we forget to make the effort. What can help are positive affirmations (statements) but how do we remember to say those, you ask 🙄
Well, simply put your favorite affirmation on your phone and or iPad at the lock or Home Screen. Now every time I open my phone it says “Something wonderful will happen today”. It immediately puts me in a good mood 🙂
Research shows that positive affirmations may boost overall health. It can help to reduce stress and increase the neural pathways in your brain.
Other affirmations to try:
Things are always working out for me. My mind is full of brilliant ideas. I’m at peace with who I am as a person. I am beautiful. I love myself. Or whatever statement makes you feel good.
Have a lovely weekend!
Reasons to choose organic skincare products

Some of the reasons you should choose organic skincare products. Not only are organic skincare products preferable for the environment as organic farming procedures are better, they are also beneficial to wildlife as well. These practices produce less dangerous waste from fertilizers and pesticides. Up to 100% of organic skincare products contain active ingredients. In synthetic skincare products, active ingredients usually only make up 5-10% of its contents. To further prove this point, natural ingredients work in synergy with each other and become more powerful together.
Wellness tip

Wellness tip: Now when many of us work from home and spend more time at home, it might be a good time to invest in some house plants. 🌱 Not only do they look lovely but NASA also recommends the following plants for air purification. Areca palm, Mother-in-law’s tongue,🪴 Money plant, Gerbera daisy, Chinese evergreen, Spider plant, Aloe Vera, Broad lady palm, Dragon tree, Weeping fig, Chrysanthemum, Rubber plant and Poinsettia! Perfect for the holidays 🎁
These plants beautify our homes while getting rid of toxins in the air. It’s a win-win situation
Positive thinking challenge

Health and well-being I think also includes mental health. I’m sure positive thinking can be a challenge to everyone at some point. My sister got me a book about positive thinking. Every morning you are supposed to write down 10 things you are grateful for. After 27 days of doing this, miracles are to be expected. I’m on day 12 and even though I started this exercise with gusto, I’m running out of things to be grateful for. I’m down to being grateful for the cheese at my breakfast. 😳 But then my sister said that you are allowed to repeat, and I immediately started feeling more positive. So it’s proof that it’s working already 😉 What do you say, do you want to join me in this challenge? Write 10 positive things you are grateful for, every morning for 27 days. Would be interesting to see the results ☀️
