Bee (a) savior

A recent report from the Swedish environmental protection agency states that the situation is urgent for bees, butterflies and other pollinators. In Sweden as many as one third of our 270 distinct wild bee species are endangered. The problem of bee decline is not unique to Sweden, it is a huge global problem.
Pesticides, lack of food and a changed landscape threaten our little wild gardeners. It means serious consequences for our future. We are totally dependent on the crucial work of bees and other insects. About a third of the food we humans eat is pollinated by them.

What can you and I do to help? The problem seems overwhelming but there are quite a few small things we can do as individuals to help. If you have a lawn, leave some of it to become a flowery meadow and plant bee friendly flowers. Build a bee hotel, it’s not so complicated, watch and learn from a Youtube clip. Plant bee and butterfly friendly flowers on your balcony. All different butterflies have a special host flower of plant where they deposit their eggs and the caterpillars eventually feed. Caterpillars are particular which host plant they will feed off, so you can choose which butterflies you would like to hopefully visit.
Choose and support organic food, skincare, clothes etc.
Don’t use pesticides in your garden or harsh chemical cleaning and washing detergents in your home. For your families health and the health of our planet.

Solution to dry itchy skin

Hydration station
When we develop new products, the ingredients are of utmost importance of course and thoroughly researched and tested. When making a body lotion there were several criteria to consider. It had to keep skin moisturized all day, penetrate skin quickly, sustainable, natural and organic ingredients and a have a lovely scent. This is why we chose oat kernel oil as one of the main ingredients. Oats have incredible antioxidant benefits, which make them pretty amazing as a moisturizer. Oat oil can provide massive relief for anyone suffering from itchy skin. Although it’s an oil, it is highly absorbable by the skin, meaning no greasy residue and all the great benefits sinking straight into the skin and also penetrating deeply.
We included it in our Body buddy lotion because of its ability to nourish and soothe maturing, sensitive and damaged skin, and for its support of the elasticity of skin. This means that when you apply it in the morning, your skin is still soft and supple in the evening. With the uplifting citrus scent it puts a zing! to my morning and makes it easier to face the day

Time of change

I think this time will be remembered as the time of change. It’s a movement happening all over the world. People are realizing that it’s now or never to save the planet. We have seen a major reduction of plastic bags, single use plastic items banned in several countries, we eat less meat, alternative fuel, electric cars, we eat more organic food and use more organic skincare etc. It’s happening because we want to chip in and make a difference for future generations. The bigger the demand for sustainable and organic products, the more will be created at a lesser cost. Think about it every time you have a sustainable or organic alternative.

How to apply face oil

Over the past few years, facial oils have taken the skin care world by storm. If a great oil isn’t a part of your regular routine, then you’re seriously missing out— Face oils may hold the secret to achieving healthy, glowing, radiant skin—no matter what your skin type (yes, even those of you with oily skin!). Jam-packed with nutrients like essential fatty acids, vitamins, antioxidants and other goodies, they penetrate the skin to transform and protect—helping to build a resilient skin layer.
Not all oils are alike, so taking a peek at the list of ingredients is definitely a good idea—quality is key. You want natural oils that are synergistic with the skin and work to address many different skin types and issues, Not synthetic oils, like mineral oil. Far too many oil formulations have those undesirable synthetics hidden in them—just because it says it’s an argan oil treatment on the package doesn’t necessarily mean it’s pure.

Step 1: After cleansing your skin, use a toner to moisten the surface, which helps the oil go through and the skin and really able to drink it up

Step 2: Apply four to five drops of facial oil onto your fingertips. Because face oils contain such concentrated amounts of nutrients, a little bit goes a long way.

Step 3: Gently tap the facial oil from your nose to your ears. pushing it into your pores, rather than just sliding them around on the skin’s surface. This will help your skin absorb the oil and make use of its benefits much quicker. It will spread out by itself, you don’t need to slather everywhere.

Step 4: Smooth from your eyebrows to your hairline in an upward motion; always against gravity. Continue tapping from your neck to your jawline until absorbed. Don’t forget your décolleté

For oily skin- use the face oil before moisturizer, dry skin- use after moisturizer

Hotels and sustainability

You know when you stay in hotels, the past few years there is usually a sign about towels in the bathroom. It states something like "if you care about the environment like we do, please hang up your towel if you want to use it again. Leave it on the floor if you want it changed ". I always hang up my towel and feel really good about it. I'm not sure why as I certainly don't change my towel everyday at home 😉 When I return to my hotel room, more often than not , the towel has been changed anyway. Has that happened to you too? What's up with that hoteliers? #hotels #hoteltowel #sustainability #savingwater #natural #organic #savetheplanet

Hope for 2017

Yes, 2016 was rough, for many people, a year to forget.
From the continued war in Syria, terror attacks, political turmoil and we lost some amazing people.
But, amid that darkness, there were also many wonderful things that happened in 2016.

My top favorites are:

Humpback whales were removed from the endangered species list

Green sea turtles in Florida and Mexico were taken off the endangered list

Gambia and Tanzania banned child marriage

Norway became the first country in the world to commit to zero deforestation

In 2016 Costa Rica ran solely on renewable energy for over 100 days. Now it's aiming for an entire year with no fossil fuels

Plastic bag use dropped massively in UK thanks to charging for them

The US finalized new regulations to shut down commercial elephant ivory trade within its borders

In September, giant pandas became the latest species to be taken off the endangered list.

The first round-the-world flight by a solar powered plane was completed by Solar impulse 2 in Abu Dhabi

What were your favorite things that happened in 2016?
Wishing you a fantastic 2017 ! Love, happiness, health, prosperity, joy and lots of laughter

Green laundry

With laundry day coming up, I'm starting to think about fabric softener, what an unnecessary and toxic product it really is. I used it for years without really thinking about it.

Fabric softeners and dryer sheets coat our clothes with a subtle layer of slimy chemicals - in fact, that's why they feel a little softer.A recent University of Washington study on air contaminants from fragranced consumer goods detected between 18 and 20 chemicals in each of four laundry products - including likely human carcinogens acetaldehyde and 1,4-dioxane, developmental toxicants methyl ethyl ketone and chloromethane

Even worse than liquid fabric softeners are dryer sheets, whose chemicals are heated and then shot into the air for you to breathe into your lungs. ... That strong artificial scent is masking a seriously unhealthy chemical mix.

With every wash, we are pouring these toxic chemicals into the ocean and we all know by now that the ocean does not need us to dump more garbage into it.

Scary stuff, but I'm happy that more and more of us are starting to think about what is in our cleaning and skincare products. Love your skin, love our planet. Unfortunately I don'thave the possibility or line drying but I'm using a dryer ball and put a few drops of essential oil into the space where the fabric softener is supposed to go. Do you have any good tips for laundry days?
